Arrest of assets
In Swiss debt enforcement, arrest of assets is a precautionary measure that allows a creditor to freeze specific assets of a debtor when statutory grounds are met. It is ordered by a court and executed by the enforcement office. The creditor must then validate the arrest through the required enforcement or court steps, otherwise the measure falls away. Arrest is powerful but exceptional: it secures assets for later realization, while disputes about the underlying claim and debtor objections are handled in subsequent proceedings.
