Collective employment agreement
A collective employment agreement sets employment conditions negotiated between employers or associations and trade unions.
In Swiss labour law, a collective employment agreement is concluded between employer-side parties and employee associations, usually trade unions. It regulates wages, working time, holidays, termination rules, benefits, and dispute mechanisms, and may also contain peace obligations between the parties. Some agreements are declared generally binding, extending key terms to all employers and employees in a sector or region. Individual employment contracts may improve on mandatory or collective standards but usually cannot undercut binding minimum conditions.
