Compliance programs

Internal systems designed to prevent, detect and respond to legal, regulatory and ethical breaches within an organisation.

Compliance programs translate legal and regulatory duties into practical controls, policies, training and reporting channels. In Switzerland they are relevant for corporate governance, anti-money-laundering, anti-corruption, sanctions, data protection, competition, employment and sector-specific regulation. An effective program is risk-based, supported by management, documented, monitored and improved after incidents. It does not eliminate liability, but it may reduce misconduct, help demonstrate organisational diligence and guide responses to investigations or self-reporting decisions.
