Contact rights
Contact rights protect a child’s relationship with a parent or close person who does not live with the child, subject to welfare concerns.
In Swiss family law, contact rights regulate personal relations between a child and a parent living separately, and in some situations with other close persons such as grandparents. The child’s welfare is decisive. Contact may include visits, holidays, telephone or digital communication, and information duties. Parents are expected to support the relationship and avoid loyalty conflicts. If contact endangers the child, authorities or courts may impose conditions, supervision, temporary suspension or other protective arrangements.
