Cooperative
A cooperative is a Swiss legal entity formed by members to promote shared economic interests through joint self-help rather than investor profit.
The Swiss cooperative is designed for an open group of persons or enterprises pursuing common economic interests, such as purchasing, housing, banking, agriculture or infrastructure. It has legal personality after registration in the commercial register and is governed by statutes, a general meeting and administrative bodies. The focus is member benefit and democratic participation, often with variable membership and capital. Liability is usually limited to cooperative assets unless the statutes provide member liability or additional contribution duties. The form is less suited to purely investor-driven ventures.
