Cybercrime
Cybercrime covers offences committed through or against information systems, including hacking, fraud, malware, identity misuse and data interference.
In Switzerland, cybercrime is handled mainly through ordinary criminal law applied to digital conduct, together with sectoral rules on data protection, telecommunications and financial services. Relevant conduct may include unauthorized access, data damage, phishing, online fraud, ransomware and misuse of credentials. Cross-border evidence, attribution and cooperation with foreign authorities often determine the practical outcome. Victims may also have civil claims for damages or injunctions, while organisations face duties to secure systems and respond to incidents.
