Deportation / removal

Removal measures end or refuse a foreign national’s stay when legal conditions are not met, for example after an asylum rejection, permit revocation, unlawful stay or serious public-order concerns. Swiss authorities must respect proportionality, family life, non-refoulement and procedural rights, including appeal possibilities where available. Enforcement may involve a departure deadline, escorted removal, detention in defined circumstances or an entry ban. Removal is distinct from criminal expulsion, though both may affect residence and re-entry.
