Disability insurance

Swiss disability insurance, known as IV/AI, aims primarily at integration before pension payment. It may provide early intervention, medical or vocational measures, aids, daily allowances and, if requirements are met, disability pensions. Assessment focuses on the impact of a health impairment on earning capacity or, for some non-employed persons, on usual activities. The scheme is closely linked to AHV/AVS, occupational pensions, accident insurance and supplementary benefits, making coordination and medical evidence central in practice.
