Divorce settlement

A divorce settlement is an agreement between spouses resolving the practical and financial consequences of divorce. In Switzerland it commonly covers parental care, contact, child and spousal maintenance, matrimonial property, pension division, costs and use of the family home. The court examines whether the agreement is complete, clear and legally acceptable, especially where children or mandatory pension rights are involved. Some matters remain subject to judicial review even if both spouses consent. A precise settlement reduces later disputes but must reflect current facts and enforceable obligations.
