Entry ban
An entry ban is an administrative measure prohibiting a foreign national from entering or re-entering Switzerland or the Schengen area for a set period.
In Swiss immigration law, an entry ban may be imposed when a person has seriously or repeatedly breached immigration rules, threatened public security, or failed to comply with removal obligations. It is distinct from a removal order, although it often follows one. Because Switzerland participates in Schengen cooperation, an entry ban may also have practical effects across the Schengen area through shared information systems. The measure must respect proportionality, the right to be heard, and available appeal routes, particularly where family life or protection needs are affected.
