Equal pay
Equal pay requires women and men to receive the same remuneration for equal or equivalent work without gender discrimination.
Equal pay is a core element of Swiss equality law and constitutional labour protection. It covers base salary and all remuneration components, including bonuses, allowances, benefits, and classification systems. The comparison may concern equal work or work of equal value, not only identical job titles. Employers must justify differences with objective, non-discriminatory reasons such as experience, performance, function, or market factors where genuinely relevant. Larger employers may be subject to pay analysis duties; individuals may bring claims for correction and back pay.
