Execution of judgment

A judgment may require payment of money, delivery of property, an act, omission, or declaration. Execution supplies the coercive steps when the losing party does not comply voluntarily. In Switzerland, monetary judgments are commonly enforced through debt-enforcement mechanisms, while non-monetary obligations may require civil procedural enforcement measures such as orders, substitute performance, fines, or other coercive tools. Foreign judgments first need recognition or an enforceability basis under the applicable international or domestic rules before Swiss enforcement measures are available.
