Facilitated naturalization

Facilitated naturalization is a simplified federal route to Swiss citizenship for specific applicants with close legal or family ties to Switzerland.

Facilitated naturalization is available only to defined categories of applicants, such as certain spouses of Swiss citizens, children of Swiss parents in specific situations, or persons with particular Swiss ties recognized by law. Compared with ordinary naturalization, the procedure is more centralized at federal level and usually does not require the same cantonal and communal admission process. Applicants must still show integration, respect for Swiss law and constitutional values, and no threat to internal or external security. The status of the marriage or family link, residence history, language ability, and conduct are assessed carefully.
