General administrative order

A general administrative order is a decision addressed to an indeterminate group but concerning a concrete situation, such as a traffic restriction.

The Swiss concept often called *Allgemeinverfügung* lies between an individual decision and a general legal norm. It regulates a concrete case, object or situation, but the addressees are not individually named and may be numerous or changing. Examples include traffic orders, use restrictions for public places or measures applying to all users of a facility. Because it has decision-like effects, affected persons may have access to administrative remedies, while publication often replaces individual notification.
