Immediate termination
Immediate termination ends an employment relationship without notice where a serious reason makes continuation unacceptable.
In Swiss employment law, immediate termination is an exceptional remedy available to either employer or employee for good cause. It takes effect at once and must generally be declared promptly after the decisive facts are known. Typical grounds include serious breaches of trust, violence, theft, or persistent refusal to work, but each case depends on proportionality and context. If the termination is unjustified, the terminating party may owe salary, damages, or compensation.
