Interim decision
A procedural or preliminary ruling that does not finally end the case and is appealable to the Federal Supreme Court only in limited situations.
An interim decision is a ruling made during proceedings that leaves the main dispute pending. It may concern jurisdiction, recusal, evidence, provisional measures, costs, or other procedural questions. In Swiss Federal Supreme Court procedure, such decisions are not treated like final judgments. Immediate appeal is available only for certain categories or if strict conditions are met, notably a risk of irreparable harm or procedural economy in exceptional cases. Otherwise, objections must usually be raised in an appeal against the final decision.
