Majority
Majority is the legal status reached at the age set by law, giving full civil capacity where the person also has capacity of judgement.
In Switzerland, majority is generally reached at 18 years of age. From that point a person is no longer subject to parental authority solely because of age and may exercise civil rights independently, provided they have capacity of judgement. Majority matters for contracts, procedural acts, marriage-related questions, property management and liability. It does not by itself guarantee capacity in every situation: mental condition, intoxication or illness may still affect capacity of judgement and therefore the validity of specific acts.
