Right to erasure
Right to request deletion or anonymisation of personal data where processing is unlawful, unnecessary or no longer justified.
The right to erasure enables individuals to seek deletion of personal data when continued processing lacks a valid basis, is disproportionate, or the data is no longer needed. In Switzerland it follows from general data protection and personality rights rather than an unlimited “right to be forgotten”. Controllers must balance the request against retention duties, legal claims, public interests and freedom of expression. Erasure may be implemented by deletion, irreversible anonymisation or restricting further use where full deletion is not immediately possible.
