Right to health
The human right to conditions and services enabling the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health without discrimination.
The right to health is not a guarantee of being healthy, but a claim to health-related goods, services and conditions that are available, accessible, acceptable and of appropriate quality. It covers non-discriminatory access to essential care, public health measures, health information, and underlying determinants such as safe water, food, housing and working conditions. In Switzerland, compulsory health insurance, cantonal health services and constitutional principles are relevant, while international standards guide interpretation. Resource limits matter, but core obligations and equality remain central.
