Switzerland participates in the Schengen and Dublin systems through association agreements, although it is not an EU member. Schengen facilitates travel without systematic internal border checks and includes common visa rules, external-border standards, and police or information cooperation. Dublin rules help determine which participating state is responsible for examining an asylum application.
