Simplified procedure

The simplified procedure under Swiss civil procedure is intended to make selected civil disputes more accessible and efficient. It applies to defined categories of cases, including many lower-value claims and certain matters where the law favours a less formal approach. The court may guide the proceedings more actively, formal pleading requirements are reduced, and oral elements often play a larger role. It is not informal in the sense of eliminating legal rules; deadlines, evidence requirements and cost risks still matter.
