Spectrum allocation

Spectrum allocation determines how limited radio frequencies are planned, licensed and coordinated. In Switzerland, national frequency planning reflects international harmonisation while addressing domestic needs for mobile networks, broadcasting, satellite services, aviation, rail, emergency services, research and defence. Rights of use may be granted through licences, auctions or administrative assignments, with technical conditions to avoid harmful interference. Spectrum decisions have economic and constitutional significance because they shape connectivity, media distribution, innovation and competition. Compliance requires respecting power limits, equipment standards, location conditions and cross-border coordination.
