Summary procedure

Swiss summary procedure is used for matters where the law requires speed or a limited examination, such as interim measures, clear cases or certain non-contentious applications. Proceedings are usually shorter, evidence is restricted to readily available means in many situations, and the court may decide on a streamlined record. This does not mean the outcome is unimportant: summary decisions can have significant practical effects, especially in provisional relief. The applicable intensity of review depends on the specific type of summary matter.
