Victim
A person whose physical, sexual or psychological integrity has been directly harmed by an offence and who receives special procedural protections.
Swiss law gives victims a specific status within the wider group of injured persons. A victim is directly affected in physical, sexual or psychological integrity by the alleged offence. This status brings protective and participatory rights, such as respectful questioning, accompaniment, information, possible protective measures, and access to victim support services. Victims may also become private claimants if they wish to exercise party rights or bring civil claims. The concept is narrower than any person economically harmed by a crime.
