Wage seizure
Wage seizure is the attachment of the debtor’s attachable income in Swiss debt enforcement, preserving a protected subsistence amount.
In enforcement by seizure, the debt enforcement office may attach part of the debtor’s wages or other recurring income. Swiss practice protects the debtor’s minimum subsistence needs; only the attachable surplus is collected and distributed to creditors. The office calculates the amount based on income, household circumstances and recognised expenses, and can adjust it if circumstances change. Employers may be instructed to pay the attached portion directly to the office. Certain benefits or amounts may be exempt.
