Simplified criminal procedure

In Swiss criminal procedure, simplified proceedings are used where the accused accepts the essential facts and the prosecutor proposes a sanction within the permitted framework. They resemble negotiated justice but remain subject to judicial review: the court checks voluntariness, legality and fairness before approving the outcome. The procedure may reduce evidentiary hearings and time, but it limits later challenges and requires careful defence advice, especially where collateral consequences such as immigration or professional sanctions may follow.
