Boundary

A boundary defines the legally relevant line separating parcels of land and determines the spatial reach of ownership and related rights.

In Swiss property law, a boundary is the legally recognized limit between parcels, relevant for ownership, servitudes, building distances and neighbour rights. It may be shown in cadastral plans, marked on the ground, and clarified through surveying or agreement where uncertainty exists. The land register and official cadastral survey are central, but physical markers and long-standing possession may also matter in disputes. Boundary questions often arise with encroachments, fences, walls, easements or development projects.
