Conciliation authority in tenancy matters
Swiss tenancy disputes concerning residential and business premises commonly begin before a specialised conciliation authority. Its role is to help the parties reach a settlement and, in certain matters, to issue proposals or decisions within its competence. It deals with issues such as rent challenges, termination disputes, extensions of lease and deposits. Proceedings are designed to be accessible and relatively quick. If no settlement is reached and no final decision is possible, the case may proceed to court.
