Curatorship

Curatorship is a protective measure appointing a person to assist or represent someone who cannot manage certain affairs alone.

In Swiss child and adult protection law, curatorship is a flexible measure tailored to the person’s needs. For adults, a curator may advise, manage assets, represent the person or act only with their cooperation, depending on the order. For children, a curator may support parents, supervise contact, represent the child in specific matters or help establish paternity or maintenance. The authority defines the mandate and powers. Curatorship should interfere no more than necessary and may be adapted or lifted when circumstances change.
