Debt enforcement
Swiss debt enforcement is an official procedure for collecting money claims. It usually starts when the creditor files a request with the competent debt enforcement office, which issues a payment order to the debtor. If the debtor objects, the creditor must overcome the objection before continuing. Depending on the debtor’s status and the type of claim, enforcement proceeds by seizure, realisation of pledged property, or bankruptcy. The system is accessible without first obtaining a judgment, but disputes may later go to court.
