Inspection
Inspection is a means of evidence where the court or authority directly observes a place, object, person or process relevant to the facts.
Inspection allows a decision-maker to perceive evidence directly rather than through documents or testimony. In Swiss procedure, it may concern a site, building, machine, damaged item, physical condition, digital environment or process. The authority may record findings in minutes, photographs or other documentation, and parties are usually allowed to participate subject to procedural rules. Inspection is useful where spatial relations, physical characteristics or practical functioning matter. Its evidentiary value depends on proper documentation and on distinguishing observed facts from later interpretation.
