Loss of earnings compensation
Loss of earnings compensation replaces income during Swiss service duties and certain family-related absences such as maternity or paternity.
Swiss loss of earnings compensation, often called EO/APG, was originally designed for persons performing military, civil defence or civilian service. It now also includes statutory income replacement for defined family-related absences, such as maternity, paternity or adoption leave and care for a seriously ill child, where conditions are met. The scheme is financed through salary-related contributions and pays allowances based on prior income within legal limits. It interacts with employment law, payroll administration and other daily benefit schemes, so entitlement and coordination must be checked in each case.
