Name rights
Name rights protect a person’s legal name, its lawful use and changes, and provide remedies against misuse or identity confusion.
Name rights are personality rights concerning the legal identification of a person. Swiss law protects the right to bear a name, to use it in legal and social relations, and to defend it against usurpation, confusion or unjustified interference. Names are also governed by civil-status rules, especially at birth, marriage, partnership, divorce, adoption and official name changes. The interest in stable identity is balanced against private autonomy, family ties and public reliability of registers.
