Rent
Rent is the consideration paid by the tenant for use of the leased property and may be reviewed under Swiss rules against abuse.
Rent is usually a periodic payment, often monthly, owed for the tenant’s use of the leased property. In Switzerland, rent for residential and commercial premises is not purely a market matter: tenants may challenge abusive rent, and landlords must follow formal rules for certain increases. The agreed rent should be distinguished from ancillary costs, deposits, default interest and charges for additional services. Payment dates, account details and consequences of arrears should be clearly stated in the lease.
