Restoration of time limit

In Swiss civil procedure, restoration of a time limit is an exceptional remedy for a party that missed a procedural deadline despite no fault or only excusable fault, depending on the applicable rule. The party must usually act promptly once the obstacle ceases and complete the omitted procedural act at the same time. The remedy protects access to justice while preserving legal certainty and orderly proceedings. It is not available merely because a deadline was overlooked, workload was heavy, or a party regrets a tactical choice.
