Unemployment insurance
Unemployment insurance provides income replacement and reintegration support for eligible persons who lose employment or face reduced work.
Swiss unemployment insurance covers many employees through payroll contributions and provides daily allowances when insured persons are unemployed, employable, available for placement and meet contribution or exemption conditions. It also supports labour-market measures, short-time work compensation and insolvency compensation in defined situations. Claimants must cooperate with placement authorities, seek suitable work and comply with reporting duties. Cross-border cases may require coordination with foreign unemployment systems, especially where residence and last employment are in different states.
